Earp family, who homesteaded in Oklahoma Territory, and their descendents and those other pioneer families whose lives intertwined with theirs...Martin Van Buren Wright, George and Mary Jane Deal Earp Ewing, William Cornelius Flatt, and more.

William Earp family, 1906
Back row from left: Hugh, Otto, Ina, Vernie, and Earl. Front row from left: Ona, Oba, Coy, William Asbury Earp with son John, Mary Frances Wright Earp with baby Claude on her lap and standing at far right is Ara.
The young man, first from the left, on the back row is my grandfather Hughie Earnest Earp. He was born in 1892 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma Territory. An interesting fact is that he was the firt of the children to be born in Oklahoma Territory. The rest of the children were all born prior to statehood also.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed when I look at this photo at how well groomed and well dressed the children are. Mary Frances certainly did a good job of managing her large household. Yes, I understand that in all large families, the older children always tended to the younger children.
Another unusual thing is that eleven of the twelve children lived to adulthood. They must've inherited a healthy constitution from their parents.
